LENT SELF-STUDY BOOK

Do you question whether God really exists? Have you considered walking away from your faith because you’ve been hurt by someone in the Church or because you struggle with some of its teachings? Or maybe you’ve already left? Are you carrying around guilt for something you’ve done and don’t feel you are worthy of God’s love?

Unable to join a small group this Lent? Take advantage of our 40 day REBUILT FAITH individual program!

The steps in Rebuilt Faith can be done in just ten minutes a day over forty days during your morning coffee, at lunchtime, or when you are relaxing in the evening. Each one includes a quotation from a saint, a reflection, questions to ponder, a prayer, and a scripture verse.

HOW TO GET STARTED THIS LENT?
Simply pick up a free copy of the book REBUILT FAITH at the Welcome Center or the parish office or Campus Ministry office on the second floor of campus center.

Click the button below to access the materials on the St Mary’s Dartmouth website.

Each day for the 40 days of Lent, read one day and refer to the manual for reflection questions to guide your study. Watch the weekly videos to help you go deeper into the readings.

Journal your thoughts as you move through Lent. Make an appointment with a Fr Bill or Dcn Frank to discuss the book.

LIVING JOY

It all starts by following nine simple steps:

Every success in life is meaningless without joy. Joy is God’s dream for you. Heaven is called a “wedding banquet.” And Jesus’ whole mission was to share that joy with you. He said it himself. “I’ve told you these things so my joy may be in you.” Think about that. The joy of GOD in YOU. The experience of that joy eternal starts now. And it doesn’t start with a change in your circumstances but a change in you.

EVERYONE CAN BE IN A SMALL GROUP

Small Groups is where our large church gets small. Groups are 6-10 people who meet to discuss faith, go deeper in the weekly homily, and support one another in their relationship with Christ. This is the place to care for others and be cared for; a place to impact our community and the world. Small Groups are a great place to explore, ask questions, and grow.
Join us for the Lenten Small Group Series.

Lenten Regulations

DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER
LENTEN REGULATIONS 2024

1. Law of Fast
A. All adults (18 and older) are bound by the law of fast up to the beginning of their 60th year.
B. On days of fast, those bound by the law are limited to a single full meal. This meal is meatless. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one's needs; however, together these two meals should not equal another full meal.
C. There are two prescribed days of fast: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

2. Law of Abstinence
A. Those who are 14 years of age and older are obliged to observe the law of abstinence.
B. On days of abstinence, those bound by the law abstain from meat.
C. On all Fridays of Lent, abstinence is prescribed. This, of course, includes Good Friday. Abstinence is also prescribed on Ash Wednesday.

3. Lenten Discipline
The Code of Canon Law very aptly summarizes the ecclesiastical discipline in Canon 1249: "All members of the Christian faithful in their own way are bound to do penance in virtue of divine law; in order that all my be joined in a common observance of penance, penitential days are prescribed in which the Christian faithful in a special way pray, exercise works of piety and charity, and deny themselves by fulfilling their responsibilities more faithfully and especially by observing fast and abstinence..."
